WHICH ALL ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TRIGGER MOVEMENTS IN CRICKET?
Trigger movements are short movements made by the batsman before the ball is released and the reason why batsmen use trigger movements is to get some additional momentum and time while playing a shot.
But it is always advisable to not use trigger movements while you are playing at the club level or district level because you will not be facing too many quality bowlers and it's always good to stick to the basics when you are a budding professional. In this article, we are going to discuss about types of trigger movements.
1)BACK AND ACROSS TRIGGER MOVEMENT

This movement is used by most famous cricketers like Virat Kohli and Steve Smith and it is a very commonly used trigger movement. You can use batting footage of Virat and Smith to understand how to precisely execute the back and across trigger movement.
When to use it?
1)when you want to move close to the line of the ball which is on the line of off-stump or outside off-stump.
2)If you need some additional time when facing fast bowlers the back and across can help you
3) Similar movement is used while playing square cuts and other cutting shots.
4)when you frequently get hit on the pads while facing straight delivery and you need to open up your front foot.5)when you want to play more straight shots this movement helps to open the front foot to play more straight shots.
2)FORWARD PRESS TRIGGER MOVEMENT

This movement is usually used to attack the spin bowlers especially if the batsman wishes to hit a six to the on-side or to do a flick. This movement cannot be easily used against fast bowlers since it is a proactive movement you cannot do anything if you fail to time it correctly. But if used against spin bowlers you can get some extra time to change your position even if you have made any mistake.
When you should use it?
1)when you need to get some extra power to hit boundaries against spinners.
2)When you want to take quick singles and doubles
3)when you need to attack spinners before the ball bounces because after pitching the ball will turn which can confuse the batsman.
